Buttons of My Heart

I’ve been very particular with the details of the clothes I’m wearing ever since I was a kid. I could recall the times when I had to argue with my Mom every Sunday on what dress to wear in going to Church. May it be the design of the laces of my dress, the colors of its ribbons or even the kind of buttons, are important for me.
But hey, buttons can do more than what we see on our clothes! As A-fash collaborated with Fabulously and Absolutely Rural Made (F.A.R.M) lately, I realized that even the smallest things here on earth could be very much useful in many ways. FARM makes use of discarded buttons and fabrics to create unique and innovative products. Amazing , isn’t it?
Glad and at the same time fulfilled was the feeling to have a partnership with F.A.R.M. What made me feel that way? Learning that aside from being just a social enterprise, it is also inspiring since its owner, Ms.Bidibidi, is a passionate artist and a social advocate especially in Baao, where she gathers hardworking and creative youth who cannot afford to go to school to help her create products in turn for a scholarship.Who really wouldn’t be inspired, right?

What I’m wearing:

Button down top, thrifted; Blazer, my sister’s hand-me-down
Bandage Skirt, Penshoppe

Bag, F.A.R.M
This bag is made up of purely recycled fabric, sewn together the F.A.R.M. way. Zipped, lined and supported by a genuine brown leather strap plus, embroidered and assembled by rural women of Baao, Camarines Sur.

Bracelets, F.A.R.M; Ring, gift
These bracelets looked like sweets, right? These are assembled from buttons of old clothes that make it so unique.
Beaded Footwear, Señorita
My toes want to apologize here. They weren’t prepared for the shoot. Hihi (Peace)

F.A.R.M products are not only beautiful and trendy but is also coupled with a deeper value. It comes with the story of how Ms.Bidibidi has helped the students and people of Baao, and the environment as well. The story has traveled from different sides of the world, and has reached the community of Ateneo de Naga, where her products are bought and her story was appreciated.
